It’s seven years now since I decided to really make something of my life-long love of singing. I suddenly felt the desire to work at my singing and performance in a way that I never had before. I began studying singing privately in Edinburgh with Eric von Ibler, and in 2016 I gave my first solo recital.
Since then I have given many recitals, as part of the St Giles’ at Six programme each year, at the Monday Group in Portobello, at Laudate Hall in Edinburgh and at St Mark’s Unitarian Church on Castle Terrace, also in Edinburgh. I have made two live recordings of recitals on CD. Nowadays I also study with soprano Emma Morwood and receive coaching from Madeleine Sjöstrand.
I have performed at many Burns Suppers, mostly in Edinburgh, but more recently in London in 2020 and 2023.
I sing a wide variety of music, ranging from some well-known opera arias, German Lieder, French Art songs as well as songs from the American Song Book and musical theatre songs and, closer to home, many wonderful Scots and English songs.
My hope in 2023 is to branch out, performing at other venues in Edinburgh and beyond.
